Iron Maiden - Quest for Fire Bass cover

This track is often quoted as a weaker song on Piece of Mind, Iron Maidens 4th album, but I actually quite like it. On forums the lyrics specifically seem to take a bashing......"In a time when dinosaurs walked the Earth, and land was swamp and caves were home.....in an Age when prize possession was Fire, to search for landscapes men would roam". Yes....I know dinosaurs and man did not co exist....but guess what? This is not meant to be real guys! It's no different to watching "One Million Years BC" or films of that ilk. In fact the song is based on the 1981 film of the same name (which in turn was based on the novel 'Quest for Fire' written in 1911)

I really like the bass line on this song, and I think Bruce does a great job with the high notes and layered chorus. The overall 'bounce' of this song fits the cheesy lyrics well (which in this case is the good cheese of the 'Hammer Horror films' variety) and I really have no problem with this song ;)

This has never been played live and probably never will see the light of day on stage, but enjoy it for what it is.......some well played, up beat, escapist heavy rock.
