This is an insightful video from a railfans perspective on how trains build India with a case study of the freight corridor running in SWR's Hubli division. We understand how freight trains carry huge loads of freight over long distances and difficult terrain. Not only this but it connects 3 major ports in Southern India as well as other sites for carrying iron ores and other commodities. We also focus on JSW (Jindal Steel Works) situated strategically in Toranagallu where we have plains that make setting up of large factories easier and which is well connected with a few major ports in Southern India, It is also located close to iron ore mines where acccesibility of raw materials is relatively easier. JSW plants situated here account for the highest production of steel in the country and definitely sets an example on how railways play a crucial role in industrial development. This magnificent freight corridor is the only one that combines nature, heritage and industries together. It is also popular among railfans as there are about 30-40 freight trains passing in a day and most run on diesel traction with special locmotives occasionally taking charge such as "The Godfather" UBL WDG4 12001 which was the first ever locomtive of the type to be introduced in Indian Railways. The legacy is now been passed onto modern, powerful and robust diesel locomotives by GE transportation which were specifically built for such duties. Do enjoy the cinematics and information provided in this video and the highlight captures in this section.
