Come along for a 3-Day Solo Boundary Waters Canoe Fishing Trip to Stuart Lake and Stuart River inside the BWCA!

On this late June 2025 trip, I take advantage of a difficult entry point, Stuart River EP 19, to get away from the crowds and get into some wonderful walleye and pike fishing. The Stuart River route begins with a 450 rod portage, which is roughly a 1.5 miles, just to get to the river. While this long portage is not ideal, it keeps most people from visiting this area, which means no fighting for campsites, no lines at portages and better fishing!

Once on Stuart Lake, I find a whole bunch of great campsites, active walleye and a few really nice northern pike. I spend the next 2.5 days fishing and exploring Stuart Lake with my solo canoe, my Northstar Northwind Solo. Enjoy!
