5 MPs raise Tri Fire EWS1 fire safety scandal in Parliament - February 2025

Five cross-party MPs have raised the Tri Fire EWS1 fire safety scandal in the House of Commons during February. As a result of the expulsion of a prolific fire engineer and allegations of fraud, tens of thousands of people no longer know if their homes are safe and are finding that banks are no longer willing to lend mortgages due to the uncertainty.

Government ministers need to have a much stronger and immediate response - not only to support people whose homes were assessed by Tri Fire, but to ensure there are effective systems in place to root out all the other bad actors.

When the Secretary of State stands to give a response to Julia Lopez MP, watch out for the exchange of looks between the Building Safety Minister and the Leader of the House of Commons. It is clear that ministers are already well aware of the scale of this problem - but when will they act?
