The annual end of year Interclub Relay with all three Auckland Clubs competing for the title - Auckland AOC, Northwest NWOC and Counties Manukau CMOC. New location. Forest- 3 person mixed teams. This year at Okiritoto Stream - first time on this new map.
I've only done a few forest relays so there were some nerves. The first few controls were ok, but I messed up control 5 - poor exit from 4 and I misread the contours - what I thought was a ridge was actually a gully, so I ran back forth along a the wrong ridge looking for the control. The rest was pretty good. Control 9 was in a clearing and I was in the wrong clearing for a bit.
As first runner, I sgot us to 3rd, great runs from Belinda and Nick kept us there for 3rd place overall in Masters. NWOC won the overall cup by two points - if I hadn't messed up 5....
