In this video, Victorian era experts Sarah and Gabriel Chrisman explain a 19th-century soda making device called a gasogene,and give a brief overview of the role of carbonated beverages in history. Gasogenes like the antique one shown in the video were Victorian devices for making carbonated water at home (they were especially popular in the 1880's and 90's).
