AModel's Dornier Do26D in 1/72 scale

PLEASE NOTE: A leason to learn - always double check! I know, my own fault but I only found out after completing this video that it was an unarmed Do26 that took part in 'Operation Holzauge' in 1943, something I hadn't previously been aware of. So if you're making this specific aircraft in this colour scheme, please do not use the bow turret and dorsal blisters, and seal the ventral MG position in the rear hull.

Anyway, this Dornier Do26 kit is from the Ukranian company Amodel and is available in two different versions, one as the civil aircraft and the other the military variant. Only six of these extremely elegant aircraft were produced in the pre-war era, intended for the transatlantic mail run. At the outbreak of war, the Luftwaffe took these aircraft and modified some of them to carry armament, although only ever defensive weapons. The aircraft were used as transports and for other more specific tasks; two were lost during the invasion of Norway in 1940 and it is still somewhat unclear what the fate of the remaining examples were.

This is a challenging kit to build but a vast improvement on the Mach2 kit from many years back. I hope you will enjoy the video, and accept my error in providing armament on this kit when there was none on the actual aircraft during operation Holzauge.
