Mahipalpur’s rich history stretches back to the 11th century, with its name derived from a Tomara ruler named Mahipala. This points to its significant historical roots in the region, highlighting its establishment during a time when Delhi was a thriving center for various dynasties and rulers.

The area around Mahipalpur has been continuously inhabited for centuries, with notable monuments like the Sultan Ghari serving as key evidence of early habitation. Built around the 10th century by the Pratihara dynasty, the Sultan Ghari is one of the oldest Islamic tombs in Delhi, symbolizing the area's historical importance.
