Описание:

On December 19th, 1944, Allied commanders met in a former French barracks in Verdun. Maps were spread across the tables and coffee sat cooling in metal cups. Three days earlier, German guns had smashed into the American line in the Ardennes. By that point, reports were saying the same thing over and over: more than two hundred thousand German troops were driving west, U.S. units were being overrun or cut off, and the front was bending into a bulge. At the road junction of Bastogne, the one-hundred and first Airborne Division and its supporting armored units were already close to being surrounded. If no one could reach them in time, thousands of men might be lost and the German offensive could tear a hole in the Allied front. In that room at Verdun, Dwight Eisenhower asked his commanders how fast they could turn north and break through to Bastogne? Most of them had to stop and think. One of them already had a plan.
