The Last Time I Saw Dharmendra… A Goodbye I Never Realized

The last joyful moments I spent with the legend, the superstar Dharmendra, never gave me the slightest feeling that I was seeing him for the very last time.
Everything felt simple… effortless… filled with laughter and light-hearted conversation, as if life had gifted us an ordinary day to enjoy together — unaware of what was coming.

I remember asking him if he wanted to eat a date from my hand, even though it was full of sugar.
He waved his hand gently, as if saying:
“It’s fine… I want to eat it.”
That small gesture still warms my heart.

At one point, I caught his cup of tea as it was slipping from his hand.
He looked at me and said:
“Sorry… I was talking to you and didn’t notice what I was holding.”
We laughed — a laughter that still echoes inside me.

When we arrived a bit late, I told him it was because of my friend Sand, who had eaten sweets the night before and ended up delayed in the bathroom that morning.
Dharmendra laughed so naturally that it wiped away all the weight of the day.

Then he said to me:
“Take a walk around the farm… there’s a beautiful swimming pool too.”
His voice always had that calmness, that serenity — as if time slowed down when he spoke.

I opened Snapchat and filmed him from a distance while singing his famous song,
Aaj Yeh Mausam Bada Beimaan Hai — “Today the weather is beautifully deceiving.”
He smiled at me… a smile I didn’t know would be among his last.

As I prepared to leave, I told him:
“May God protect you.”
He responded with a soft sigh — one I didn’t understand at the time.
I never imagined that sigh carried a hidden farewell…
a goodbye his voice couldn’t speak, and my heart couldn’t grasp.

This was on September 27, 2025 — less than two months before he passed away.
And when he left us on November 24, 2025, that ordinary day turned into a historic memory,
a moment engraved in my life forever.

I still cannot accept that those moments were the last.
And I don’t think I ever truly will.

Dharmendra… you left a mark in my heart that time can never erase.
