Hyperloop technology uses air compression instead of electricity. Riding on an air cushion, the vehicles are expected to reach a maximum speed of 760 mph, which would allow traveling from San Francisco to LA in just over half an hour! However, high implementation cost and security issues are in the way. Hyperloop technology has been explicitly open-sourced, so tech geeks all over the world team up to make Hyperloop a reality.
