The song “Flying For Me” by John Denver was written for Christa McAuliffe, whose life was cut short when the Space Shuttle Challenger crashed on January 28, 1986, just seconds after lift-off. John always hoped to be one of the first citizens to fly into space. He wrote this song in memory of the Space Shuttle Challenger and her crew.
