For the flooring on the main level of our lake house we wanted something durable but nice looking. We love the look of our wood floors in our house and were lucky enough to find a very similar look in LVP (luxury vinyl plank) from Flooret. The nice thing about their floors are they have a long, wide, plank that is 100% waterproof and has 3X the industry standard wear layer thickness. Plus they are a direct to consumer brand so you can get a higher quality product for a lower cost.

Before we could start laying the floor we needed to level a few areas. For that we used DAP Floor Patch and Leveler which is flexible and bonds to concrete or plywood.

After getting the LVP flooring down we moved on to the trim work around the back patio doors. We built extension jambs out of pre-primed 1x10s and trimmed it out with my 80/20 version of a craftsman trim look. 80% of the look for 20% of the work. Basically this consisted of 5/4 plinth blocks cut to 4"x6-1/4", 1x6 baseboards, 1x4 vertical trim and a 5/4x6 top trim with 1/2" overhangs. This gives me the ability to have variations in thicknesses at each joint which helps when things don't line up how you would like.

Butt Joints and Outside Mitered corners can be glued with Weldwood Wood Adhesive for a strong, instant bond.
