"Lovesick Blues" was originally written by Tin Pan Alley songwriters Cliff Friend and Irving Mills. The song first appeared in the 1922 musical Oh, Ernest and was recorded by various artists before becoming Hank Williams' first major hit in 1949.
Early Recordings: It was recorded by Elsie Clark and Jack Shea (1922), minstrel singer Emmett Miller (1925 and 1928), and country singer Rex Griffin (1939).
