It’s Saturday in Japan.
Unlike many Japanese salaryman YouTubers, I often have weekends off.
Today, I’m doing something very ordinary — selling used books, walking through narrow streets, and dealing with a tiny apartment.
Japan has a strong used-book culture, transparent umbrellas everywhere, and shops where convenience quietly shapes daily life.
I take you to BOOK OFF, a famous used bookstore, talk about manga culture, “adult buying,” libraries in Tokyo, and even how much 25 books are worth here.
Is selling books for $11 a waste of time — or better than throwing them away?
On the way home, I stop by a 100-yen shop, dry my umbrella in a tiny entrance, and open a shareholder gift from a Japanese snack company.
This is not a flashy Japan.
It’s just everyday life.
💬 I’d love to hear from you:
Do people sell used books where you live?
Are transparent umbrellas common in your country?
What would you do with 25 old books?
Thanks for watching my very local, very quiet Japan.
