===============
Catharina Ochman Polona lectori salutem.
I would like to invite you to take part in an open seminar on Aulus Gellius' "Noctes Atticae" at the Institute of Classical, Mediterranean and Oriental Studies, University of Wrocław, Poland.
The seminar will be held once a month on Tuesdays at 21:00 CET / 15:00 EST, starting on December 8th 2020. In each meeting we will read and discuss selected passages from the "Attic Nights". The main language of communication will be Latin; English may also be used when necessary. The intended target group of this seminar are students and researchers of Classics, but everyone interested in the topic will be more than welcome.
The initial plan is as follows:
– 8th December 2020: Introduction to Gellius (selections from Praefatio)
– 5th January 2021: A programmatic chapter (NA 1.1 – not as boring as it may seem, I promise! ;) )
– 16th February 2021: The main character: Favorinus and the main topic: language (NA 1.10)
– 9th March 2021: What philologists like the most: a hapax legomenon (NA 2.10)
– 6th April 2021: Burning the midnight oil (NA 13.10)
– 4th May 2021: Let's party! (NA 17.8)
– 8th June 2021: In area Palatina, or Gellius' success story (NA 20.1)
Please note that we may decide to change the plan depending on how Gellius guides us during our reading :)
The meetings will be held via Zoom at:

Meeting ID: 871 1458 2962
