Jean came to live in Australia at the age of 6 where her parents migrated to Australia, she attended school in Australia.
She met her husband and had children. When her son was aged 6 she began to get involved in the Surf Life Saving Club in Maroochydore on the Sunshine Coast in South East Queensland.
Having been involved in the club for many years she has recently been inspired to take up the sport of paddling from many of the older members of the club who have all been in the masters and trained for several years.
