Rebuilding the rusty cab side member on my old Volvo F87 – with a homemade wooden jig, failed attempts and a first test bend to see if it actually works.
In this episode I’m trying to save the cab on my Volvo F87 by building a simple oak jig and forming a new cab side member from sheet metal. The first idea shrinks and warps, so I scrap it and start again with a new radius, some maths and a “hobo fix” or two along the way. Next episode I’ll finish the metal pieces and test‑fit them on the cab.
