Campos De Cahuenga
Near one of Los Angeles’ most popular tourist attractions, Campos de Cahuenga is the location where a ceasefire agreement was reached between Californio forces and American troops during the Mexican-American War.
If you are ever visiting Universal Studios or taking a ride on the subway, stop by the Campo de Cahuenga, the site where the Mexican-American War essentially ended, marking the beginning of the great state of California.
Located at the northern mouth of the Cahuenga Pass near what is now Universal City. One of Los Angeles’s least-known historic treasures is found near the busy intersection of Lankershim and Cahuenga Boulevard in North Hollywood.
The Adobe building, known as Campos de Cahuenga, is a historic site known as the birthplace of California. The Campo de Cahuenga park has a small historical museum and a collection of artifacts associated with the signing of the Treaty of Cahuenga.
The Campo presents a reenactment of the treaty signing with a public event each year.. Speakers, dancers, and reenactors help visualize what the scene would have been like at the signing.
Come visit the Campo de Cahuenga and visit one of the most historic places in all of Los Angeles, where modern California began.
