If you have an image of Buddha try to respect that image, keep it clean.
Especially with garden Buddhas.
Try to have a relationship with that image that is respectful.
Have faith and respect in Buddha.
Those with faith will see that image as Buddha himself.
View the image as an actual Buddha.
In a Buddhist temple you'll see shrines, those with faith believe that Buddha is there.
They make respectful prostrations to that Buddha.
Praying to the image of Buddha. Bowing to the image of Buddha.
For someone who doesn't understand - it can look confusing!
What they are actually doing when they are showing respect is they are thinking in their heart: I myself am going to become an enlightened being just like you. You were once like me. May I become just like you! May I become an enlightened being just like you. May I follow the spiritual path and become just like you.
Every time you see the image of Buddha; think I myself will become just like you.
We can turn our home into a peaceful, spiritual place.
If you have one venerate and respect it.
