Cillian Murphy, director Tim Mielants, actors Tracey Ullman and Jay Lycurgo and writer Max Porter visit BFI Southbank to talk about Steve, a story set in a reform school for boys in the 90s.
Set in the mid-90s, Steve is a reimagining of Max Porter's Sunday Times bestseller Shy. The film follows a pivotal day in the life of headteacher Steve and his students at a last-chance reform school. As Steve fights to protect the school's integrity, we witness him grappling with his own mental health. In parallel is Shy, a troubled teen caught between his past and what lies ahead. The Academy-Award winning Cillian Murphy is fantastically compelling as Steve, a man on the edge, but he is also surrounded by an exceptionally talented cast including terrific turns from Jay Lycurgo, Tracey Ullman and Simbi Ajikawo.
Steve arrives on Netflix on the 3rd October.
