An interrelated curriculum boosts engagement - linking concepts across subjects helps students build stronger mental models and remember information better. When our fabulous 2nd grade team reached out, asking for an art project that would connect with their studies of ancient asia, I was excited to team up!
Students made several sketches of animals in profile using the 'bean' shape technique before diving into building their individual articulated shadow puppet. These young artists collaborated for a short period before presenting these vinettes. I hope this in class experience inspires these children to create performances at home!
