Highlights from my visit to the Assiniboine Park Zoo on September 9, 2025.

Give a warm welcome to the channel’s first International Zoo, the Assiniboine Park Zoo in Winnipeg, Manitoba. This zoo is highlighted by the world class Journey to Churchill, where we’ll see the channel’s first Muskox, and lot of the zoo’s Polar Bears and Seals, including a Polar Bear “hunting” Seals through the glass in the underwater tunnel. Other sections of the zoo include the Grasslands & Boreal Forests, where we’ll see a rare White Bison, as well as Wolves, Snow Leopards, and Reindeer. In Asia we come across Markhors, Takins, and Gibbons. The broadly themed open range has some less common North American Zoo Species like Guanacos, Wallaroos, and the channel’s first West Caucasian Turs. Rounding out the zoo and our highlights are the South American themed Toucan Ridge, and the Kinsmen Discovery Center, both home to a host of Smaller Mammals, Reptiles, Birds and more!
