Margaret Mitchell. We'll take you through the Margaret Mitchell House and the gravesite of Margaret Mitchell and her husband, John Marsh, in Oakland Cemetery in Atlanta Georgia
On August 11, 1949, Mitchell was crossing the street on her way to a movie theatre when she was struck by a speeding car. She suffered extensive internal injuries, including a skull fracture, and died five days later.
We'll also take a special look at Georgia actress Thelma Butterfly McQueen, who portrayed "Prissy" in the movie, taking a look at her final resting spot, in Decatur, Georgia at the Decatur Cemetery. Placed there is a memorial to all who have given their lives for science. Lot 17 area of internment.
McQueen died at age 84 on December 22, 1995, at Doctors Hospital in Augusta, from burns sustained when a kerosene heater she attempted to light malfunctioned and burst into flames. McQueen donated her body to medical science and remembered the Freedom From Religion Foundation in her will.
