This tree is formerly known as Aloe bainesii hybrid, but the correct name for it it is Aloe tongaensis. The Neanderthaloe is a freely branching, heavy stemmed tree Aloe bears masses of puffy orange/apricot flowers in late winter on relatively young plants! Formation of heavy, sculptured trunk occurs in only a few years with arching, broad, strap-like, dark green leaves forming the canopy. If you’ve ever been an enthusiast of tree aloes in general, and its parent, Aloe bainesii, then you’ll go crazy over this new, improved, free-flowering version!
