At Southwest Baptist Church in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, the congregational singing is a integral part of our corporate praise to our Heavenly Father! And the center piece of the music program is the grand piano. The piano offers many acoustic challenges when capturing it through microphones. Then, to reproduce that sound with very specific intent requires purposeful planning. This video shows how and why I mic the grand pianos for live and broadcast applications.

Meet Joe Mizer:
Joe Mizer has been on staff at Heartland Baptist Bible College since 2007 as the IT Director and Studio Engineer, and teaches audio classes. He traveled with Heartland's GloryBound Quartet as the pianist for five years and soundman for three years. He's been playing the piano since the age of six. Joe is married to Brigitta, and they have one daughter, Tirzah.
