Join myself (Vince), my wife (Louise) and daughter Aspen for a truly special adventure — our little baby’s first backcountry camping trip at just 5 months old! We hiked up the super steep (but relatively short) Hermit Meadows Trail in Rogers Pass, located in the heart of Glacier National Park, British Columbia. The views were epic and so were the bugs 🦟. The hike takes you through beautiful old growth forest, between the mountains, up to a stunning alpine meadow. Even with little Aspen in tow, the wild is still wide open and her adventures are just beginning.
Whether you're a parent looking to take their kids into the great outdoors and are looking for inspiration or just someone who loves beautiful mountain landscapes and my awkward and funny commentary, this video is packed with family-friendly outdoor inspiration, some gear tips, and real moments from the trail.
📍 Location: Hermit Meadows, Rogers Pass, Glacier National Park, BC
⛺ Hike stats: The trail is 7 km (4.3 miles) roundtrip, with an elevation gain of 823 meters (2,700 ft), and typically takes 4 hours to complete, factor in extra time for a heavy bag stuffed full of baby things. 8 tent pads are available if you're planning on camping and can be booked through the Parks Canada website.
🎒 Activity: Hiking + Overnight Backcountry Camping
We hope you enjoyed coming along on this trip vicariously through us and found some inspiration for your own adventures.
See you on the next one, Vince, Louise and Aspen!
