The Berkshire (Red)
The Berkshire is a masterful golf club in Ascot, England, with two 18 holes courses. The Herbert Fowler designed Red course meanders over undulating heathland terrain with dramatic elevations over beautiful Heathland. The unique aspect of this course is the layout six par 3s, six par 4s, and 6 par fives. The routing produces more scoring opportunities and was overall a lot of fun. The par 4s were challenging with many being short with great risk reward opportunities, the Par 5s create many eagle/birdie opportunities and the par 3s while many long were all unique and challenging. The green complexes were not overly complicated but required good shots or risk treacherous bunkers. The course is beautiful, fun, and not overly complicated. It is worth noting that The Berkshire has a great all-weather covered range with grass tees and a very good short game area.
The Berkshire (Blue)
The Berkshire Blue is a fun, solid course at the Berkshire and an excellent accompanying course to the Red course. TheBossGolfs prefers the Red course for its undulating terrain and unique layout. The Red course's layout was more fun and had more scoring opportunities; that said, the blue course has a lot of character. The Blue course starts off in front of the dining room patio, with a long par 3 (210+) over heather to an elevated green that any short or right misses will result in an over 30 foot drop down a hill. The course is generally a bit more open, has a few fewer bunkers, and slightly overly flatter terrain. The greens were more undulating than the Red course, and the Blue course felt longer than the Red. Overall, The Berkshire is a very good club, a lot of fun, and a great host to outside golfers.
