For a long excursion, a roof rack dramatically increases your cargo space. In this video, we’ll assemble the Can-Am roof rack on the ground, then install it on our Defender side-by-side. This is a large accessory, so it makes sense to start the assembly on the ground. The parts are powder coated, so you may need to give them some help getting together with a rubber mallet.

With the rack together on the ground, we’ll pull the roof of our Defender to mount the brackets that will secure the roof rack to the unit. Then, we’ll get the roof back on and mount the rack.

A note here as you’re doing this? When you have these big accessories, it’s easy to end up with things that don’t quite line up. Hand-tighten your bolts here and make sure everything is aligned before you torque things down.
