Struggling to find trout in big water? On the legendary Madison River, I break down exactly how to read large rivers, identify productive pockets, and utilize euro nymphing techniques to locate trout—no matter how intimidating the river may appear.
Large pockets and current breaks are the key to fly fishing large rivers like the Madison. If you can find them here, you can find them in any river. In this video, I show you the areas that trout REALLY prefer and why.
I had a fantastic day on the river catching Brown Trout and Rainbows. The flies of the day were a size 14 Jack Daniels and a size 16 soft hackle Walts Worm in natural.
I hope you enjoy.
Tight lines!
