This year, the Red Pheasant Social Distance Powwow attracted some champion drum groups and dancers. For many, it was the first time gathering at a powwow since the onset of COVID-19. In this video, you can see Black Otter singing a sidestep song for the women’s jingle category. It was a beautiful site to be able to enjoy a powwow this summer, even if it was only once. As we move forward into 2020, we look forward to attending more social distance events. Amidst all this disorder, we must not forget about preserving our culture and traditional ways.
