=================================
Part 3 of my blind longplay of the RPG Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky (aka Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky FC, aka Eiyuu Densetsu VI: Sora no Kiseki in Japan) played on PC. I'm playing the Steam version here. This is the first game in the Trails series of RPG games and I've never played any of them until now. I hope you like reading, because this game has an absolute TON of story. I don't think I've ever played a JRPG before with as much text as this one has. That's not a bad thing, it's just a little different than most other JRPG's. The game feels like more of a slow burn before things get rolling along since there's large breaks between the action sequences. I do like the amount of world building the game has and the volume of NPC's that have quite a lot more varying dialogue than other games. It makes the world feel more alive. It's also kind of refreshing to have a main quest that's not "stop the world from being destroyed" as usual. I checked the controls before starting the game and noticed a Turbo button listed, then I promptly forgot about it for the first couple of hours. The Turbo button is such a great quality of life feature to have for speeding up battles to make any grinding and combat in general so much less tedious and the fact that they made it work while moving around outside of combat too is pretty awesome. I do end up looking up the solution to a small handful of the side quests along the way since some of them are weird riddles, but most of them are pretty straight forward to get through. There's a side quest for some shoes about halfway through the game where I completely blinded on where the shoes were in my inventory, so I thought they were just "equipped" through the story and not something I had to put on. I didn't realize I needed to actually put them on until a while after I had them when I finally noticed where they were, so I had to backtrack a tad to get what I needed done with them (THANK YOU Turbo button). A couple of the "investigations" you have to do ended up being a little frustrating trying to track down that one thing I didn't hit the button on or having to walk through a specific door to hit the progress trigger, but they weren't too bad and helped mix things up from the usual fare. I'm relatively certain I finished 100% of the side quests in the game, though it's possible there was a hidden quest or two that I didn't know about. Combat has some light tactical strategy to it that I like. All encounters except for the bosses being physically avoidable is also kind of nice if you don't want to deal with it. I got pretty invested in the story by the end of the game and am looking forward to playing the next game in the series soon.
In this part I go through the rest of Chapter 2 and some of Chapter 3.
