In the world of boxing, where grit and determination often define success, Alex Love stands out not just for her achievements inside the ring but for her remarkable journey as a police officer and a community role model. Honored as one of the “Women Cops Who Box” by the International Women’s Boxing Hall of Fame (IWBHF) for our April 2025 event in Las Vegas, Nevada, Love’s story is a testament to perseverance, passion, and empowerment.
Born in Monroe, Washington, a small town 30 miles northeast of Seattle, Alex Love's athletic journey began on the basketball court. With aspirations to enhance her endurance, she took a leap into the world of boxing while in high school. Training at Ring Sports United under the mentorship of four-time world champion Kim Messer transformed her life forever. It was here that Love discovered her passion for boxing, which would later intertwine with her aspirations of building a career dedicated to service and community engagement.
Highlights of her accomplishments include the following: 2010 Silver Medalist National Golden Gloves; 2010 Ringside World Champion; 2010 Bronze Medalist National PALS; 2010 International Dual Champion + Outstanding Athlete; 2010 State Golden Gloves Champion; 2010 Regional Champion; 2011 Regional Champion; 2011 State Golden Gloves Champion; 2011 Bronze Medalist National PALS; and champ at the 2012 USA Boxing National Championships.
In a history-first Olympic trials that took place in Spokane, Washington, Alex was one of only 24 top female boxers who competed in the Olympic trials.
Love told WBAN the following: "After the Olympic Trials in 2015, I finished my time with the Army in August of 2017. I was fortunate to box in the World Class Athlete Program for the military. I enjoyed the end of my military career because I focused on my assigned job in preparation of transitioning out of the military."
Prior to pursuing boxing full-time, Love made significant contributions to her community as a youth sports coach for the City of Bellevue's Parks and Recreation Department. She also explored academic avenues in Criminal Justice, highlighting her commitment to making a difference beyond the boxing ring.
Her military service further enriched her character, as she had the honor of boxing with the Army’s World Class Athlete Program. Love’s transition from military life to law enforcement was seamless; her dedication to serving her community never wavered.
Recognized with an Army Commendation Medal during her military career, Love has consistently exemplified dedication and excellence, making her deserving of the accolades she receives today. Full Bio on womenboxing.com #alexlove #wban #iwbhf #suetlfox
