Lecture recorded during the ABDN EEG workshop in Port Harcourt, Nigeria.
In the first lecture, we provide the background for EEG. We take a brief look at the history of EEG, what EEG looks like, examples of its applications, and where it is located in relation to other neuroimaging techniques. We then cover the basic biophysics underlying the signals measured with EEG, starting from the primary current generated by single cells, how electric fields are formed, and how these fields are summed to create the electric fields that we can measure at the scalp (part 1 of 2). The white balance of the video is messed up from 24:00.
2.35 Introduction and brief history of EEG
12:45 First look at EEG data
30:35 EEG in the neuroimaging landscape
45:45 Biophysical origin of EEG signals (part 1)
