Team Carpet or TIMBER??

This week we have something a little different... We are INSTALLING!

What do you prefer? CARPET or TIMBER??

First we uplift and remove the existing carpet and underlay. Next the gripper comes out which can be quite painful! We then prep the subfloor by sanding it with the EDGER to get it flat and level, ready for installation to begin. That first line is so important to get straight so we use some string to guide us. Once ready we trowel on the VERY satisfying glue!

We now cut our planks to size - here we are using some amazing recycled Tasmanian Oak hardwood boards salvaged from old homes. We secure them with the secret nail gun as well.

Now the room is ready to be sanded. We go in with the BIG MACHINE belt sander first to strip the hardwood back to bare. Next we use THE EDGER to finish off the rough sanding. Then we vacuum up all the saw dust before filling any nail holes with wood putty. This gets sanded off once dry and the entire floor gets buffed. Finally it's coating time using a 3 coat system by Berger-Seidle water based varnish (AquaSeal range) in a natural, flat finish.

From carpet to installed planks to perfection! Absolutely beautiful! 👌🏻
