Every winter the two fishing cobles: 'Summer Rose' and 'Prosperity' are hauled off the beach here at North Landing, Flamborough and then winched up the steep concrete ramp to the boathouse. Inside the boathouse the cobles undergo major annual overhauls, where they are stripped down, sanded, re-painted, re-varnished, engine and propeller shaft serviced, lifeboat inspected etc. etc. But there is only room inside the boathouse
to work on one coble at a time. As a result, after one overhaul is completed, a
coble shuffling exercise has to take place.
