Disney Wonder, Alaska 9 Night Cruise, July 2025. Pre-Cruise Days in Vancouver, B.C. Join us for our latest adventures!
After well over a year of planning for this cruise, our travel day finally arrived! We were off to Tampa for our flights with the first stop in Seattle and then on to Vancouver. The customs process in Vancouver was very straightforward, and before long, we were off to the Marriott for an overnight stay. We share a tour of the room, which was clean and comfortable with two queen beds, a mini fridge, a coffee maker, and a large desk in the bedroom. The bathroom was fully enclosed with a vanity and tub/shower combo. We opted to dine at Harold's, which was across the parking lot at the Sheraton, though there is an on-site restaurant at the Marriott. Starbucks is also located at the Sheraton. This hotel was a nice option near the airport with free shuttle service offered back and forth.
The next morning, we made our way back to the airport and took the Sky Train to Waterfront Station. We booked Azur Hotel Vancouver for the next two nights. This hotel is conveniently located in the heart of downtown near the port. There was a huge convention in Vancouver before our sailing, which, unfortunately, caused a tremendous increase in hotel prices. The Azur was a very short walk to Canada Place. Tim Hortons and Rexall Drug Store were also nearby. We share a room tour of this lovely boutique hotel. The room was well appointed with two queens, a large TV, sizeable bathroom with heated tile floors, and we loved the added touch of robes and slippers. We would not hesitate to stay here again!
We made our way to Grouse Mountain with plans to take in as many of the activities as we could. We rode the tram (similar to Skyliner) up the mountain and enjoyed exploring the bear habitat, seeing the great horned owl, and snacking on beaver tails. We absolutely loved riding the ski lift even further up to the top for incredible views. This was a trip highlight! We caught the last Lumberjack Show of the day as well. We enjoyed the show and definitely recommend it for not only the lumberjack competition but also for the hijinks as well. The ride back down the mountain offered incredible views. Vancouver is truly a beautiful city.
Gastown is a short walk from Canada Place. After taking the shuttle back from Grouse Mountain, we made our way to The Old Spaghetti Factory for dinner. We stopped by the steam clock on our way. Gastown has lots of fun shops and eateries, and is a great place to find Canada-themed souvenirs.
The next morning, we enjoyed Tim Hortons for the first time. The donuts and breakfast sandwiches were good. Prices were very reasonable. We equate this to Dunkin Donuts in the States.
Capilano Suspension Bridge Park was on our itinerary. We made our way to Canada Place for the free shuttle, and within 30 minutes, we were at the park. We explored some of the historical information at the entrance and were fascinated by all the totems before crossing the bridge. The views were breathtaking. This park is truly beautiful and the epitome of the Pacific Northwest with all the trees and greenery. The park has several sections to explore, including the treetops and the cliffwalk. There are raptors on display, and we even saw banana slugs. We had to try the otter balls as a treat. These fluffy little pancakes were a nice mid-morning snack. We spent 3 hours exploring, though we easily could have spent a few more hours. The gift shop has plenty of merchandise offerings as well. Capilano was most definitely a trip highlight!
Our friends, the Colemans, arrived in Vancouver to join us for the cruise. We spent the rest of our day exploring near the port. We saw the Olympic Cauldron and watched the cruise ships depart. There was a lot of seaplane activity as well. A number of eateries, from quick service to table service are located near Canada Place. There are also vendors offering various tours to local attractions. We enjoyed every minute of our time in Vancouver.
We certainly hope you enjoyed the vlog as we enjoyed sharing our pre-cruise days with you!
Onward to our next adventure!
