Today we put out some Tamtbo rye grass in the North pasture. Hopefully, this frost resistant grass will help prevent soil erosion and give the heifers something green to eat when we put them in the pasture. TAMTBO is a forage-type annual ryegrass developed for high forage production in the southern United States, known for its good crown rust resistance. It is well-suited for over-seeding into existing pastures or planting in prepared seedbeds in the fall. Seeding rates for TAMTBO are typically 20-40 pounds per acre, and it should be planted between September and November.
