Cadair Idris Wild Camp Climb Summit PenyGadair Wild Wet Windy Storm conditions on Snowdonia Mountain

Cadair Idris Hike & Wild Camp In Vango Force Ten Vintage Tent. After a stormy wet night camped close to Llyn Cau at 1548 feet we climbed Craig Cau and summited PenyGadair the highest top of Cadair Idris in Snowdonia, North Wales and enjoyed some welcome rest in the Bothy just below the summit. Very wet and windy conditions meant a change of clothes for me, never had to do that before! Thank goodness for good effective dry bags. On the decent after doing the Minffordd path up we continued around horseshoe rout an epic 800 meter descent to the Cwm below. So while the Vango Force Tent performed superbly some of the modern wet weather garments i wore didn't, in the end having to resort to an old school cape which worked well! An epic and grueling climb but one i would not have had any other way due to two previous aborted attempts! Thanks to the mountain Gods it felt epic to finally be on the top after so many years! A big shout out to Skye and John who accompanied me. The later spent an uncomfortable night in his tent where the ground sheet leaked (it was extremely wet though)!
