As I was invited tot join the 'You never walk alone challenge' in the Netherlands, I played a compilation of music about the theme/message of the song You never walk alone.
In this Corona time the Mattew Passion of J.S. Bach are canceled everywhere in the world so therefor I wanted to use this great music for my compilation. The opening of the Mattew Passion is also my opening. I also used compositions of Jan Zwart and Bert Kruis (who invited me in the first place). My wife created a beautiful movie using pictures and words of the songs I am playing.
This piece is dedicated to Berend Eenkhoorn who was just married to my mother in law (december 2019) and who died March 31th from the concequences of the corona virus.
Of course there is pain and sadness due to this loss but there is also hope and comfort if we believe in Jesus Christ our Saviour. Therefor I ended this piece with the words of the last verse of the 'Sela' song 'I will be there!':
O Name of all names, to You all honor.
Nothing can ever separate me from Jesus my Lord:
No death and no life, no trouble or pain.
I’ll sing forever,
I played this at home on my 'Hauptwerk' organ which is built by my father.
The sampleset I used is the fantastic French Symfonic organ of the Laurentius Cathedral in Rotterdam (Netherlands).
It is a very powerfull instrument as you can hear in the end and it has quite some resemblance in sound to the Cavaillé Coll organ in Rouen.
More info can be found at https://www.hauptwerk.nl/laurentiusen...
I hope the combinations of texts, pictures and music will give comfort to all of you during this hard moments in live as it is now with the corona crisis.
