Joan is a Henshaws service user who shares her story and details of her sight loss journey in this episode of InSights.

InSights are intimate personal stories of sight loss from individuals sharing their greatest challenges, their greatest fears, their darkest times and how they overcame them and moved forward in their lives.

In this episode, Joan shares her experience and challenges with her sight loss. One of Joan’s passions before becoming visually impaired was painting and craft making. It had been a challenge for Joan to continue with her art until she began experiencing Charles Bonnet syndrome, an eye condition which results in visions and hallucinations. In this interview, learn more about Charles Bonnet syndrome and how Joan’s hallucinations inspired her to keep being creative!

We hope these stories will resonate and encourage others to move forward on their own sight loss journey, as well as help sighted people to understand more about what visually impaired people experience.
