With smokers now paying more than $50 for a packet of cigarettes, illicit tobacco has become a thriving trade - costing billions of dollars in lost tax revenue and undermining efforts to curb smoking.
Border Force believes it made a significant breakthrough this week, shutting down an alleged organised crime network based in southern Queensland and New South Wales. Peter McCutcheon reports.
