This presentation explores the philosophy of person-centered dementia care (PCC), the ways in which it informs the practice of care and the ways in which person-centered care is experienced by care recipients at two faith-based long-term care centres. Drawing on focus groups and interviews, the philosophy and practice of person-centered care needs to be reassessed, particularly in light of experiences of front-line care providers, individuals with early-stage dementia and their family caregivers.
