Hey guys, it's Jake here with etrailer. Today we're gonna be taking a look at and I'm gonna show you how to install, the Air Lift Load Lifter 7,500 XL Air Helper Springs on our 2024 GMC Sierra 2,500. Adding air helper springs to the back of your vehicle is gonna allow you to help to bring up the back end of the vehicle whenever you're hauling a heavy load in the bed of your truck or behind it on the hitch. This is what our airbags are gonna look like when they're installed. You're gonna have a double convoluted design, which essentially means that there's gonna be two bubbles instead of one big one. And separating that in the middle is going to be a very strong steel band.

That band is designed to keep the airbag shape so that it acts more like a spring than it does like a one solid airbag. If you have one solid airbag, what can happen is that bag can tend to lean and warp a little bit, but with this design it's designed to go straight up and down. You can also see that we've got it mounted to our axle and we've got it mounted to our frame. So the whole system is going to be all connected to our vehicle. It's gonna be engaged essentially all the time.

You will have to have that minimum five PSI in there just to keep the shape of the bag so that the bag doesn't fold over top of each other causing premature wear and tear. Now with these being Air Helper Springs, you can add or subtract air in order to get the ride quality that you really, really are looking for. The problem with having the back end of your vehicle sag down is it's gonna make your steering loose on the front. It brings your headlights up. That's actually the issue that we're having here is the owner of this vehicle said that when he hooks up to his fifth wheel camper, the fifth wheel camper weighs about 16,000 pounds.

So it's really weighing down on the back of our truck and it brings the headlights up and he says that people are constantly brightening him on the road because they think that he has his brights on, but really it's just the front end of the truck that's up in the air. So adding these in there, you can really dial in the air pressure to get your truck to ride the way that you want. With Air Springs, I always recommend picking up a onboard air compressor to be able to mount onto your vehicle. It ties in with your airbags, that's what we did on this truck. And you can add or subtract air on the fly.

So as you're driving, if you think you need a little bit more air or a little less air, you can just adjust that air compressor and it will add or subtract air as needed. When it comes to comparing airbags to our air helper springs to some other rear enhancement, suspension enhancement options. You've got your Timbrens, your Sumo Springs, which are both nonadjustable options. They're essentially just gonna be the larger jounce bumpers. Those are good options for if you're always hauling the same trailer. Say you have a skid loader trailer behind your truck for a construction company or a concrete company, whatever, and you're always hauling that same load and that's what you need the help with, then those options are good options because you don't have to adjust these. You're always hauling the same load. The Timbrens are gonna be the more aggressive option between those two. When you get into adjustable options, you of course you have your air helper springs like we have here and you have Roadmaster Access Suspension. Roadmaster Access Suspension is adjustable but it is very difficult to adjust. Essentially it's going to be a coil spring that you add to the top of your leaf pack and what it does is it will take some of the stress of your leaf springs so that your leaf springs don't flatten out as much, but you're gonna have to get a wrench out and adjust those. Have a set key so that that knot doesn't move. It's really not what you're looking for if you're wanting to adjust on the fly. Air helper springs are by far the best option when it comes to hauling lighter loads or extremely heavy loads. These bags are gonna be rated for 7,500 pounds a piece. That is the load carrying capacity that they're rated for. They're gonna have a max PSI rating of 120 PSI. So that just kind of gives you an idea of what they are capable of handling.
