Communicating the purpose, value and capabilities of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) to allied publics in a manner that resonates with wider audiences is a perennial challenge. One significant dimension to this problem: the key community that regularly communicates and connects with allied (and global) audiences – Hollywood’s screenwriters – have had limited, if any, exposure to NATO and how it works.
The Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) recently led a delegation of eight Hollywood screenwriters on a study trip to gain insight into the value of NATO ahead of the Washington Summit. Please join Dr. Kathleen McInnis, Senior Fellow, International Security Program and Director, Smart Women, Smart Power Initiative, LeAnne Howard, Special Advisor for NATO / Summit Coordinator, National Security Council, The White House, Christine Levinson, Showrunner of Tyrant and Scott Silveri, Writer of Friends and Speechless, for a discussion about the trip, its findings, and what NATO’s forward-looking story - and strategy - ought to be.
This event is made possible by general support to CSIS.
