The second battle in my 23-24 campaign to conquer world of cyclo-cross was to be held on the playing fields of Thorp Academy, in Ryton, Tyne and Wear. The second round of the Cyclo-Cross North East (CXNE) League would be my initiation into the way things are organised in this league as opposed to the more informal events of the NECCL in which I'd competed for the first time a week ago. Scale and infrastructure at the event, hosted by Derwentside Cycling Club, was undoubtedly more impressive, with more riders and a bigger list of races, but each have their merits and I've no reason as yet to put one above the other.
