Key cards;
Mermail King - Neptabyss — Your opponent cannot target WATER monsters this card points to with card effects. You can take 1 ‘Abyss-’ Equip Spell from your Deck or GY and either add it to your hand or equip it to this card.”.

Lancea, Ancestral Dragon of the Ice Mountain — You can Special Summon 1 ‘Ice Barrier’ monster from your hand, Deck, Extra Deck, or GY, then you can change 1 Attack Position monster your opponent controls to Defense Position. If this face-up Synchro Summoned card in its owner's control leaves the field because of an opponent's card: You can Special Summon 1 ‘Ice Barrier’ Synchro Monster from your Extra Deck. (This is treated as a Synchro Summon.)”

Poseidra Abyss, the Atlantean Dragon Lord — You can detach 2 materials from this card, then send 1 WATER monster from your hand or Deck to the GY; return up to 3 cards your opponent controls to the hand.”

Example easy combo (starter → endboard)
Starter: Have an Atlantean that sends a WATER monster to GY on activation (e.g., Atlantean drops) + a Mermail/Water extender in hand.
Step 1: Activate the Atlantean effect that sends a WATER to GY → trigger uses (this triggers Neptabyss’ search/equip on resolution). Equip an Abyss-Equip or add it to hand.
Step 2: Use your WATER extender to special and Link/Synchro into Mermail King − Neptabyss (or build into a Link ladder to reach Lancea or Synchro options). Neptabyss protects pointed WATERs and fetches Abyss-tools.
Step 3: If opponent overextends, make Poseidra Abyss (or overlay into it) → detach 2, send a WATER to GY and bounce up to 3 opponent cards for massive tempo swing.
Result: board with protected WATER monsters, an Abyss equip active, and bounce disruption (good vs big boards and combo decks).

Unique strategy / tech idea
Build the deck around repeated GY triggers (Atlantean activations + discards) to constantly fuel Neptabyss searches and Poseidra’s bounce. Tech in handtrap denial (cards that stop banish/hand plays) and a small Link package to convert small specials into Lancea or Neptabyra targets — this creates a resilient tempo loop that punishes greedy lines. Master Duel creators are already experimenting with Icejade hybrid versions for that exact resilience.

Is this deck still strong in the 2025 meta?
Yes — Atlantean / Mermail engines paired with Ice-Barrier (Icejade) support have seen renewed activity and viable tournament uploads through 2025; the archetype thrives when it can keep opponent resources low and repeatedly trigger GY effects. For ladder and local events it remains a tier-viable, combo/disruption hybrid (not always top-tier vs hard locks, but very playable).
