This is a video from the Epping Ongar Railway's London Transport themed gala on Saturday 9th October 2021. The locomotives included are: L150 (5521) Small Prairie Tank, L92 (5786) Pannier Tank, Class 20 20227 "Sherlock Holmes" and Class 31 31438. 5521 has actually visited this railway before - in 2013 when they held a special gala celebrating 150 years of the London Underground. 5521 has also travelled on the Metropolitan Line alongside Met 1 on special railtours and has even been to Poland (hence the air pump on the side of the smokebox).
It is hard to believe but this railway used to be part of the London Underground's Central Line. Believe it or not, Ongar station is the still to this day the point at which all distances on the tube network are measured from, and there is a marker at the end of the platform to represent this. It closed in 1994 but was thankfully saved but volunteers and turned into the heritage railway it is today. In fact, they are hoping to extend all the way back to Epping station in the future and build their own platform and runaround loop.
