Exactly 9 km from where we parked our car in Lommedalen outside of Oslo, you find the small wooden cabin "Drømmen". Drømmen translates to "the dream" in english. The cabin furfills its name as a stunning, beautiful little place.
The cabin is owned by DNT (the norwegian trekking assiciation) and can be booked via the website ut.no. It costs no more than a couple of beers at a Norwegian nightclub.
The cabin is located in a forest area called "Krokskogen" which still has some wilderness left even though forestry has made its impact. The Norwegian hiking legend Lars Monsen started his hiking career sleeping outdoors in these forests as a child(!).
In Krokskogen the wildlife is representative for a Norwegian forest, but my favourite is the black grouse having its mating rituale in April/May early in the morning on frozen lakes or open marshes. Beeing present to this event is enchanting and facinating, even though I know it might sound kind of wierd observing a birds mating ritual...
Please enjoy this small video with some important reflections about how to take care of the planet.
