Upon returning from the Great War, British veterans began to form themselves into organizations to memorialize their service and their fallen, as well as to push for benefits to assist those going through tough times. Join Clive Harris and he navigates the purposes behind these formations, and how they came together into one large legion of British veterans. Harris also explores how sporting clubs became a way for small communities throughout the United Kingdom to remember their war dead and recover from the devastatingly large losses. Harris uses his own hometown club, Charlton Athletic FC, as an example of its importance to the World War I generation.
